After our co-founder José Lima participated last week at a round table on sustainability at the CIMODE congress in Madrid, which also included Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, we could not miss to write about the Spanish designer's PET Lamp project, which we found very inspiring since its inception. Based on the reuse of PET plastic bottles and the preservation of craft techniques from various parts of the globe, the collection of lamps is undoubtedly one of the best examples of the combination of design and concern for environmental issues.
Like Ideal & Co, Pet Lamp believes that it’s possible to develop an environmentally and socially sustainable product that is both beautiful and relevant to today's market. With the help of craftsmen from several continents, the brand founded by Álvaro Catalán de Ocón presents a collection of unique lamps that reflect the weaving traditions of countries as distinct as Chile, Ethiopia or Japan.
With a simple and ingenious approach, PET Lamp helps solve a global problem with a local activity. Truly inspiring!
